With our hydrothermal technology, we are successfully introducing a new technological process into our core area of expertise: meet HrCB (Hydro Recovered Carbon Black) 🚀
The Green Transformation of Carbon Black begins here.
📍Recovered Carbon Black (rCB), commonly obtained through pyrolysis processes used for waste rubber recycling, typically contains high levels of inorganic fillers and sulfur-rich molecular compounds depending on the feedstock composition. The presence of these structures significantly limits the use of rCB as a true alternative to virgin carbon black.
Through ICARBON CHEMICAL R&D AND ENGINEERING, established with the support of the TÜBİTAK 1512 program, we have developed innovative solutions to overcome these limitations. In addition to developing four different types of recovered carbon black, we also succeeded in converting these materials into Activated Carbon and Graphene Oxide layered structures.
📍Now, we are taking the next step.
We are working on transforming our advanced recycling technologies — originally developed for rubber devulcanization and polymer depolymerization — into a single-stage Green Chemistry process capable of combining the demineralization and activation of recovered carbon black (rCB) ♻️
🚀According to our first experimental results for HrCB:
• Sulfur levels can be reduced below 1%
• Inorganic content can be lowered to 4–6%
• Surface area improvements between 20% and 60% can be achieved
(Some characterization studies are still ongoing.)
At ICARBON, we continue pushing the boundaries of advanced recycling technologies, sustainable materials, green chemistry, and circular economy solutions ♻️
