A New Focus Area for ICARBON: Textiles.
Can our advanced recycling technologies provide a sustainable solution for textile waste?
According to our first experimental results: YES 🚀
In our initial studies with polyester-based textile structures, we successfully achieved the recovery of valuable polymer input chemicals ⏳️
This time, we are applying our hydrothermal recycling technology to textile waste streams — taking another important step toward circularity in the textile industry.
According to a report published by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, if current production and consumption patterns continue, the growth in textile material production could generate up to 300 million tons of non-renewable waste annually by 2050.
🌡 In addition, the textile industry is projected to consume more than 20% of the global carbon budget associated with the 2°C climate target established under the Paris Climate Agreement.
❗In other words: if we continue producing and consuming textiles the way we do today, we may have plenty of clothes to wear — but no sustainable planet left to wear them on.
At ICARBON, we believe advanced recycling, hydrothermal technologies, polymer recovery, and circular economy solutions will play a critical role in transforming the future of sustainable textiles.
