I was truly honored to contribute to the textile industry with my customized training program, “The Recycling Journey of Polymers,” while witnessing one of the most inspiring examples of theory and practice coming together through the “Technical Applications in Textiles” Workshop.
Hosted by the Denizli Technical Textiles Center between July 30 – August 1, 2025, the workshop became a remarkable model not only for the textile industry, but also for the broader chemical industry. The “Technical Applications in Textiles” concept demonstrated how theoretical knowledge can be transformed into real industrial applications, innovation, and sustainable value creation.
Over the course of three intensive and inspiring days, participants from different sectors experienced the full cycle from concept development to practical implementation, combining creativity, engineering, and innovation in a collaborative environment.
I would especially like to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Onur Balcı for designing such an outstanding organization, introducing me to the textile industry, bringing together highly respected academics and industry professionals, and selecting my area of expertise as one of the workshop’s educational topics.
What did we experience?
📌 Theoretical Sessions:
• Smart Polymers by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Ceyhan
• Knitwear Production and Sustainable Textile Processes by DTTM experts
• Biomimicry / Biotriz by Volkan Balcı
• The Recycling Journey of Polymers presented by myself
📌 Practical Applications:
• Artificial fiber production using Wet Spinning, Melt Spinning, and Electrospinning technologies with different polymers
• Waterless dyeing applications using supercritical CO₂ technology for polyester dyeing without water consumption
• Plasma technology trials under low-pressure and atmospheric-pressure systems to improve technical textile properties on denim and various fabrics
• Knit fabric production using flat knitting machines
• Masterbatch and compound production using extrusion technologies
Finally, during the closing sessions, we combined all outputs and collaboratively generated dozens of innovative project ideas.
And of course… we experienced much more beyond what can be summarized here.
This workshop once again demonstrated that sustainability, polymer recycling, technical textiles, smart materials, and advanced manufacturing technologies will continue shaping the future of the textile and chemical industries together.
